Podcasts!!

Okay, it's been almost a year since I blogged about my iPod. I love my iPod!! I even have a cable and an input jack in my car that lets me listen to my iPod through my car speakers. It's great!! Anyway - I have recently started getting into Podcasts. They're lots of fun, too!! I currently get podcasts from Moody Bible Institute, some environmental updates (I work with the environmental component of our school's push to become an IB school), some newsy ones, a nerdy mathy one, and some other interesting (probably nerdy) things. Anyway - I put one on today during the carpool in the morning (the audio journal from an ABC journalist's trip to the Arctic Ocean) and another in the afternoon (an NPR show called "All Songs Considered"). It was much better than radio surfing to try and find radio stations that aren't playing too many commercials. Check out Podcasts!

My Weekend in Elmira!!

This picture just about sums up my weekend in Elmira ... there will be more pictures to follow ... pictures of happy, smiling children. But there are no pictures of three happy, smiling children all in one picture. Yup - that sums up my weekend. :-)

First of all, there was the typical:
  • We played pinochle until my mother decided that Lou Ann just couldn't keep her eyes open any longer (I was falling asleep between tricks).
  • We ate SOOOOooo much food that I'm STILL stuffed!
  • We played Old Maid and other kid games ... chased each other around the house ... petted the doggie ... and laughed and laughed until our sides hurt.

    Then, there was the not-so-typical:
  • I borrowed my friends' car ... as you can see it was a lot of fun (as you can see, it was only fun when it wasn't raining).
  • This summer I gave Ian (the three-year-old) my old point and shoot film camera. He LOVES taking pictures. He even enjoys taking pictures when there's no film in the camera ... says that he's "practicing".
  • I took Ian to see Wallace and Gromit ... his third movie ever. It's a bit long for him to sit and pay attention, but he did a GREAT job, and I think we had a great time! :-)
  • Will (the younger twin) is just about walking ... and because he gets all sorts of applause and accolades when he takes a couple of steps, Aaron (the older twin) has decided that it's time for him to walk as well, so he's practicing with a little walker all the time (ALL THE TIME), running around the house with the walker. They'll BOTH be walking by the time I see them again!

I had a lot of fun, I love these three wonderful little guys, and look forward to seeing them again ... hopefully at Christmas time. I'll let you know when I have the rest of the pictures ready to show off.

    Redskins Game

Okay - this is a picture of my friend, DC, when he sang in our church's Easter cantata last spring. Yes, his name is honestly DC Washington. No joke. Get over it. Because he can SING. Like you've never heard before. He's some kind of systems analyst by day (what does that mean!?), but he SINGS in his free time. SOOOOooo ... the Washington Redskins got ahold of his name a few months ago, and signed him up to sing the national anthem at today's home Redskins game against the Seattle Seahawks. So, of course, I got my friend Nancy, and we went to hear DC, and then stayed for the rest of the FABULOUS game. I love NFL games, and went to several while living in Buffalo, and even went to one when I visited my cousins in Charlotte, NC. But I never thought I'd get to a Skins game ... yet the tickets were surprisingly easy to get. We had a fabulous time. The Skins won in overtime. And DC SANG the National Anthem like you've NEVER heard it sung. In fact, there was an inadvertant military fighter-jet flyover during the national anthem that seemed like it had totally been planned. What a fabulous day!!!!
