 June 28, 2001 - Niagara Falls, ON & NY

Although I've seen Niagara Falls a zillion times or so (living about 45 minutes away), I couldn't take a trip across the country, seeing "all" of the important sites, and leave out Niagara Falls.  So, Mom and Dad and I drove to the Ontario side of the Falls (the better side from which to see the Falls!) and spent part of a day walking and taking pictures and seeing the Falls ... and finished at our favorite Italian restaurant (on the New York side) with lunch.  Unfortunately, this is where I dropped the digital camera (which didn't belong to me, and it broke!), so there are only a few pictures.  Enjoy them, though.

This picture was taken from the Ontario side, looking toward the New York side.  This is the narrower, but steeper falls, called the American Falls.
This boat is the Maid of the Mist.  It goes VERY close to the Falls.  (It's supposed to!)  No other boats are allowed so close.  Those little blue things on top of the boat are people.  They put a big heavy thick rain coat on you, and as you're leaving the dock you think that there is no way you could get wet.  By the time the ride is over, you can't figure out what the rain coat was for ... because parts of you get wet that you didn't even realize could get wet.
This is the CN tower in Niagara Falls, ON.  I'm standing in just about the same place I stood to take the picture directly above, but turned around about 180 degrees.
