July 7 - Chicago, IL
I spent about a day and a half
in Chicago, roaming around with a former colleague who has since moved
from the DC area to the windy city. [Note - the film got off center
in the camera, and although the prints from this roll have come out fine,
the CD has some half pictures.]

This is the Chicago Art Institute (where I saw American Gothic). |

This is the famous
Chicago "L" (elevated train). We took a tour of the Loop downtown
on a special L train. It was very interesting!

This is the official beginning of Historic Route 66. I think that I ought to do THAT one of these summers! :-) |

The building
in the middle distance is the Sears' Tower. It's the tallest building
in Chicago. There are nine sections of the building, each a different
height. This, we were told, makes the building safer in high winds.
