July 24 - Pacific Coast - California; Golden Gate Bridge

This part of the drive was one that I could have done without.  I had been warned about the cliff driving, the hairpin turns over sheer drops without guard rails.  Well, this was it.  And I was driving on the ocean side, so I would be the one dropping if a drop was to happen.  It was a day of white knuckle driving, and a realization that the motels in the suburbs of San Francisco were much more expensive than those in the city itself, so I ended up in the City by the Bay over night, but did no real sight seeing until the next day.  I can say, though, that I entered the city by the Golden Gate bridge (but didn't even enjoy THAT experience, as it was SO foggy that I was sort of scared to drive over a bridge ... and there was a LOT of traffic!)

There aren't many pictures from July 24 just for the reason that I spent all day maneuvering the hairpin turns mentioned above.  Those pictures that I did take are notable!

The first two pictures are the obligatory "Drive your car through a tree" (which you can do at a couple of different places for a few dollars).
The next two pictures are from Mendocino, California.  Recognize this house?  Well, Murder She Wrote would have you believe that it's Jessica Fletcher's home in Maine.  :-)  It's actually The Blair House, a California Bed and Breakfast.  Eat your heart out, Mom.  :-D
