July 19 - Seattle; Space
Needle
The Space Needle was built
in Seattle in 1962 for the Seattle World's Fair. It was based on
the design of Germany's Stuttgart Tower. The trip to the top, although
expensive, was quite worth taking ... the view is amazing! Now, I'm
sure that you'll soon find yourself wondering how someone could visit the
Pacific Northwest and not photograph the mountains. Let me point
out that the peak of Mt. Hood (Oregon) was invisible due to cloud cover.
Mt. Ranier was invisible due to cloud cover. And, Mt. Olympus was
invisible due to cloud cover. So, I feel completely justified in
planning a new trip to that part of the country some time soon to see the
mountains! :-)

The view
from the top of the Space Needle is wonderful. But, yet again, I
couldn't see "the" mountain. Ah, well. It just wasn't supposed
to happen.
