August 3 - Las Vegas (at night); Nevada desert driving

I left Las Vegas about 3:00 a.m. to avoid the heat in the desert.  In the city it was just as stifling as it had been in the middle of the afternoon.  Where does the heat come from if not the sun?  How can anyone find that city enjoyable???  Anyway ... I found that the temperatures dropped as soon as I was out of the city, and the remainder of the drive to Carson City was very pleasant.  The pictures you see here are random stop-the-car, take-the-picture, start-the-car-again pictures.  I don't think that the pictures do justice to the beauty of the area.  Enjoy anyway!!
