August 2 - The Mojave
Desert; Las Vegas (daylight hours)
I decided that a trip around
the U.S. wouldn't be complete without a trip to Las Vegas. So I took
my car without air conditioning through the Mojave Desert from San Diego
to Las Vegas. I didn't mind the heat in the car too much (one roadside
stopover had a sign with the time and temp which read 108 degrees).
But I most certainly did NOT like Las Vegas. I have been told that
it would have been more fun if I was with someone. I'm not too sure
about that, and I have no desire to go back there. It was awful.
I'll subject you to the pictures that I took there for the sake of continuity.
Or, you can click above to move on to August 3 and see some of the shots
I took driving from Las Vegas to Carson City, which was a much more enjoyable
drive and destination.

First,
my motel was across the street from Treasure Island. There were cannons
going off (they had an outdoor pirate show) all night. :-D

| Next, I HAD to see The Venetian, as Venice is my favorite city in the whole world. I have to tell you that they did a great job at reproducing the buildings in the main square in Venice, but I can tell you from experience that the water in the REAL Venice is NOT THAT CLEAN!!! | |

| Then, there were several other casinos that I walked past. They're all pretty glitzy. :-) | |

And, last but
