A quick preview...

There have been some requests for a few pictures from my trip ... sort of a preview.  Thanks for the interest.  :-)

The trip had four parts, and I'll give you a few shots from each "part", as well as a few "extras".  I've put them in groups on separate pages so that each page shouldn't take too long to load.

If you know my photography, you know that I favor landscape and especially mountain images.  There are almost no images like that in the 2100 pics that I brought back from Europe.  I wasn't really looking at that type of scenery, and decided to try my hand at some new genres of photography.

First, road tripping in France.

For the first week of the trip, I drove through the rural countryside of France, and spent some time looking for some of the "146 Most Beautiful Villages in France" ... and many that I saw really were some of the most beautiful villages!!
I don't know if this was one of the 146 villages, but just happened to be a village that I saw in the distance while I was driving.  From every country road in France you can see at least one (if not many) steeples on the horizon.  They were always the highest buildings in the villages.
Every village had a main square in the middle of the town.  I loved the big old tree in this one.
Yes, I spent one day driving through a beautiful river gorge and taking my favorite landscape pictures.
In the village of Hunswihr, these storks lived in these large (HUGE!!) nests that they built on top of people's homes.  Take a look at the white mess that this made on the rooftops.  Yuck!!!
This image is from the American Military Cemetery at Omaha Beach near Caen.
