A Capitol Fourth
I just wanted to share this with everyone. It might just be my last opportunity to see the DC fireworks in person. It was fabulous ... synced up to the 1812 Overture and Stars & Stripes Forever broadcast on the local classical music station (being played live by the National Symphony Orchestra on the Capitol Steps).I couldn't help but think to myself that ... here I am on the bank of the Potomac River, looking across at the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, on July 4, watching fireworks, listening to the 1812 Overture and Stars and Stripes Forever, being fed fabulously delicious food by an Afghani family who happened to be sitting next to me and decided to "adopt" me. Only in America ... and only in DC! It was really very cool!
Happy Fourth of July (missed it by a few minutes ....)
