Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

First of all, I want to say that I've been trying for a week now to write a post about the trip that I took to visit friends in Chicago last weekend. But it's hard to write about. I had a wonderful visit. But it was mostly hanging around with people that I enjoy hanging around with. Everything that I came up with to write would probably not interest anyone but myself and the people that I was visiting. So ... know that I went to Chicagoland and had a great time ... and that's enough of that.

Now, on to world shattering stuff. I saw the new Harry Potter movie. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Here's my quick review, in the form of a list of thoughts (that's how my mind works best!):

  • I have an affinity for RED-HEADED TWINS!!! (And the fact that they're named Fred and George (my father's first and middle names) helps a lot, too!!)
  • Maggie Smith ROCKS ... anything else need to be said about that character?
  • It was fine as far as Harry Potter movies go. Of course they can't get the whole story into one two and a half hour movie. So, if you're going for the story, don't bother. I still like the books and the books-on-CD best!
  • The effects are great ... just like I imagined while reading the book ... or better!
  • It's amazing to see these kids grow up on film ... this is the fourth Harry Potter movie, and Harry, Ron and Hermione look SO much older than four years from when they started. But ... isn't that how the teen-age years go for everyone?
  • Not only is it amazing to see how quickly those kids are aging, but Emma Watson (Hermione) is becoming so beautiful that it's becoming difficult for them to make her look like the academic/goody-two-shoes-nerd that she's supposed to be.
  • Here's a question for someone like Kate. In the book, at what point did Barty Crouch take over for MadEye Moody? Because in the movie, I believe that they show him drinking the polyjuice potion WAY too soon. Do you agree?
  • Another question for Kate. Aren't the Patil sisters in different houses? In this movie, they're both in Griffindor...
